Working in wider Financial Services or non-Financial Services and want to break into the world of Hedge Funds / Systematic Trading?
Are you the kind of developer who thrives behind the scenes, ensuring infrastructure just works?
Looking for a role where your calm, reliable presence has a direct impact on live trading systems?
If you’re nodding along, this could be the opportunity you’ve been waiting for.
Our client, a fast-growing and high-performance systematic trading firm based in Jersey, is looking for a technically solid, infrastructure-savvy developer to join their close-knit team. You’ll work directly with the CTO, helping to support a mission-critical stack that underpins global trading strategies across multiple asset classes.
This is a hands-on role, perfect for someone with solid Linux experience who’s curious about how systematic trading works and wants to be part of building the foundations that make it all possible. Over time, there’s clear scope to expand into automation, observability, and even application development in Python, Rust, C++, or C#.
Why This Role?
This role is perfect for a technically solid developer who thrives on keeping systems running smoothly behind the scenes.
You don’t need to be a quant; what matters is your reliability, your calm approach to problem-solving, and your ability to maintain and improve a critical Linux environment. If you take pride in building stable systems and want to work within a small, high-performance team with real autonomy and trust, you’ll feel right at home.
What You’ll Be Doing
Infrastructure (75%)
- Maintain and improve a hybrid setup of Linux-based bare-metal servers and AWS instances
- Oversee OS-level tasks including security patching, backups, restarts, and performance tuning
- Help automate routine infrastructure processes to reduce manual effort
- Monitor and support latency-sensitive trading applications
Data Operations (25%)
- Manage and maintain static datasets like futures rolls, calendar events, and instrument metadata
- Operate and troubleshoot systems for historical market data ingestion and S3 distribution
- Investigate and resolve data quality issues affecting trading and research pipelines
What You’ll Bring
- 3+ years of experience working in a Linux-heavy environment (bare metal and/or cloud)
- Solid understanding of system maintenance, troubleshooting, and infrastructure fundamentals
- Familiarity with AWS services (EC2, S3, IAM) and scripting tools like Bash
- A methodical mindset with a focus on reliability, clarity, and continuous improvement
- A baseline understanding (or enthusiasm to learn) programming in Python, C++, C#, or Rust
- Bonus: experience with market data APIs or low-latency environments (but not essential)
What You’ll Get
- Mentorship and learning – work closely with a seasoned CTO in a low-ego, high-impact setting
- Meaningful scope – your work keeps live trading systems running smoothly every day
- Clear progression – from infrastructure and data operations to automation and application dev
- Close-knit culture – an on-site Jersey team where your contributions are visible and valued
- Competitive compensation – aligned to experience, with room to grow
