About the Role

We are seeking an outstanding individual for the role of Head of Risk & Compliance – Governance, based in Jersey and reporting directly to the Head of Group Risk and Compliance. This is an exceptional opportunity to oversee a world-class risk framework while ensuring its seamless implementation across 10+ jurisdictions.

This role offers the unique opportunity to join an organisation with a dynamic and prestigious presence in the global market. As the Head of Risk & Compliance – Governance, you will play a pivotal role in overseeing the full spectrum of risk management, ensuring regulatory compliance across multiple regions. You will be the second-in-command to the Group Head of Risk and Compliance and will work closely with senior stakeholders to maintain the integrity of the risk framework.

You will be based in Jersey, but the role involves extensive travel. This is a high-profile position, and you will be expected to act as a trusted adviser at a senior level, working with a range of stakeholders from across Europe, the Middle East, and beyond.

Key Responsibilities

  • Regulatory Governance: Oversee and maintain the risk and compliance framework across multiple jurisdictions, ensuring adherence to legal and regulatory requirements.
  • Strategic Oversight: Support the Group Head of Risk and Compliance by assessing the implementation of the governance framework across the entire group. You will be instrumental in ensuring that the framework laid down by senior leadership is being effectively implemented across all jurisdictions.
  • Licensing and Compliance: Take responsibility for key person regulatory registrations in Jersey, and support the maintenance of business licences.
  • Training and Development: Work to develop and implement jurisdiction-specific risk management programs and training, ensuring compliance at all levels of the organisation.
  • Leadership and Influence: Act as a senior trusted adviser, liaising with stakeholders at all levels to drive effective change and ensure that risk management strategies align with broader business objectives.
  • Problem-solving: Identify gaps in the risk framework and ensure that issues are addressed calmly and effectively, without becoming flustered. You will be expected to think strategically and pragmatically in resolving complex challenges.

Qualifications & Experience

  • Recognised legal, accountancy, or compliance qualification.
  • At least 10 years of experience in financial services, with a strong background in Compliance, Risk Management and Regulatory Governance.
  • Previous experience overseeing trust and company business operations is highly desirable.
  • Strong leadership and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage and influence senior stakeholders
  • A calm, pragmatic leader who can handle pressure and deliver results.
  • Experience with regulatory registration processes and governance frameworks, particularly within the context of multi-jurisdictional operations.
  • Ability and willingness to travel extensively, particularly within the first few months of the role.
