Financial Controller – Jersey; within leading Global Hedge Fund

✨ Are you ready to take ownership of the financial management for a region of a global Hedge Fund?✨

Do you prefer environments where progression isn’t about layers of hierarchy; it’s about doing excellent work that’s recognised and rewarded?

Would you thrive in a culture that values curiosity, problem-solving, and autonomy over rigid processes?

Our client is a global Hedge Fund with a high-performance structure and a strong culture of collaboration. Each Financial Controller is responsible for a geographical region; this opportunity covers Jersey and one other, representing a significant proportion of the global business.

You’ll report to the Head of Group Finance and work alongside a close-knit team who are analytical, commercially minded, and genuinely supportive of each other. It’s a grown-up, low-ego environment with a great social side too!

The Role

You’ll be responsible for the financial reporting analysis, and oversight of your region; from forecasting and management packs to deferred compensation, audit, and board reporting.

  • Produce and review financial analysis (forecasting and retrospective)
  • Deliver management reporting packs and commentary for senior stakeholders, presenting to Board
  • Coordinate external audits and statutory filings
  • Contribute to group financial projects and continuous improvement initiatives
  • Own the month-end close, balance sheet, and income statement integrity
  • Oversee payroll, deferred compensation and related reporting
  • Work autonomously — managing your region as you see fit within a supportive framework

Whilst your core role will be as above, a large portion of your time can be spent involved in ad-hoc projects, problem-solving, and analytical input across the wider business.

You’ll be expected to find solutions, recommend them, and implement them; with the freedom to work with the relevant teams to do so.

The Person

We’re looking for a qualified accountant (ACA/ACCA/CIMA) with around 3–5+ years’ post-qualification experience.
You will either be in a fund accounting, group or management company finance role, or a top-end Audit Manager looking for your first move into industry.

What matters most is:

  • Strong analytical and reporting ability
  • A proactive, inquisitive approach
  • Comfort operating with autonomy
  • A team-first attitude — no ego, just competence and curiosity

The Environment

  • Medical cover for you and your family, pension, and a discretionary bonus typically around 25%
  • Monthly social events and a genuinely friendly, collaborative team culture
